Bike Trip 7/31

Matt and I hopped on the bikes a couple days ago and decided to go for a 4.5 mile (one way, uphill) ride through the Chugach State Park.
We stop and turned around at this lake. (the trail can be seen at the tip of the lake)

We did a little hiking before we turned around and met this little guy, a pika.

As many of you know, Halo 3 was released tuesday, and ever since I've been waiting anxiously for it to arrive in the mail... well, today, it came. It is here. Don't expect to here from me for the rest of the week, I'm gonna be a little busy saving the world from total destruction and stopping the complete annihilation of the human race. ah.. 7:30 cannot come soon enough..

Also late breaking news, tomorrow is my last day of work here at the college, and I leave for anch on the 17th, and continue on down to TN that sunday.

Now, before ya'll start saying, "so what, that ain't news, you've been engaged for 6 months and 1 day now, are you just now realizing this fact?" just wait and read on.. might learn something new.
Due to a recent chain of events, late nights in which I may have OD'd on homemade sweet tea(
found out you can make it you can make it three times as strong and twice as sweet as anything available in stores,) and various other factors, we have decided to get married... in November.
So, that being said, we are happy to announce that the date for our wedding is November 24. If you want to know all the details, give me a call, I'll be sure to make noise until you hang up, knowing most of what I remembered to tell you, which I can assure you will be very little at all. If you want the story of the last several days and all the events leading to this decision, please call me, and I'll be sure to freeze up, crash and begin a system memory dump resulting in rebooting in last known good configuration, much like the computers I've been surrounded by for much too long. And if you want answers.. read your Bible, it'll give you more than I ever would, even if I tried.(big if) (kids, take note, don't surround yourself with microsoft, stay up late and consume large amounts of caffeine and sugar, or you'll end up writing nonsense.)

Now that many are doubting my sanity, let me assure you.. I haven't lost it.. it was never present. :P J/K God blesses insane people, too, which is the only way I can imagine that I ended up with such a wonderful girl as Megan, and why we'll be getting married after 8 months of engagement!

Yes, I am both.
I am very happy because I have a new niece!
Now, maybe some of you out there are thinking, "About time you wake up, boy, you a day 'n' a half late!"!!! Well.. that's why I'm sad..

My computer died.. it struggled to live, but in the end nothing could save it.. :(
It started acting up a few days ago, it unexpectedly shutdown last night as I tried to post, and after startup today, I was finally able to post a comment on Bek's blog, but afterwards was promptly cut off as choked and breathed it's last.. it now refuses life, blinking a question marked folder at me as I vainly try to resuscitate it...

So guess what I'll be doing tonight, yup, REFORMAT!! ugh.. oh well, gotta do what I gotta do..

Anyways, now you know all about my life again, now I can wait another 3 1/2 weeks...

Bizarre Foods review..

Alrighty, I'm two days late, my apologies.

Here we go! Well, first, it's kinda cool that Bethel, and even more so, Alaska, is getting some publicity for the food, I can't begin to count how many times I've talked about the interesting food we have here. I just wish it wasn't by some a New York yuppie that can't pronounce a single thing right. Argh. From the Kenai Peninsula to the Kuskokwim River, and all the different foods that were consumed by the irritating Yank, rarely was something pronounced correctly. So if you come up to me and pronounce something the same way, I will, in a loving, gentle, and caring way, guide you to the correct way of saying things. (ya right, I'll probably rant and rave for 5 minutes about illiterate New Yorkers)
Alright, now about the food: The Akutaq: that delicious mixture of berries, hydrogenated veggie oil, sugar, and water. A staple food in Alaska, this is very good if made correctly, but for those of us raised on the best, subpar is.. well, difficult to swallow. I can also tell you first hand that Lucy Crow's akutaq is some of the best! Now, as for what the white boy mixed up for him out on the trail.. I could tell it was definitely subpar.. i.e.'white boy no make good eskimo food.'
Blackfish: I tell you what, just remembering watching them clean the bones of those little succulent morsels of aquatic life is making me hungry again! The little fish lives in the many streams and lakes, growing to a max of about 8 inches. Used mainly as bait, this little guy makes a tasty meal, as you've seen. Especially with seal oil..
Seal oil: As the name implies, this is the oil taken from the blubber of the seal, in a process pretty much identical to what you saw them doing with the whale. Yummy.
StinkHeads: Need I say more. Fermented fish heads and various other parts, this dish smells like none other. Personally, I have yet to try it, not everybody makes it and those who do rarely invite others to partake in their limited quantity of quality aged seafood. Hopefully someday soon.
Ptarmigan: If I remember correctly, he actually pronounced this one right. This grouse-family member has feathers on their feet, and tastes quite good, though I've never cooked it on my snowmachine engine before. Once again, hopefully soon.

Now on to the people:

Lucy Crow: Very good friend of my family and respected member of the community, especially for her food.
Evan Waska: Though I don't know him personally, his is a well known name, and is the typical Yu'pik elder, quiet and wise with the unique and quirky sense of humor found in many eskimos. (And very easy to understand, BTW, those who read the captions need to check their hearing)

Over all, I enjoyed the showing, was cool to see my hometown become famous. I just wish someone slightly less annoying could be the host, that guy is just irritating.

Went flying again this morning, it's interesting, because I have to be at work at 10, and I would go earlier, but then I wouldn't get the car, cause I gotta drop off mom at work at 8, but if I don't got the car, I won't get to work on time.. phooey.. I'll figure something out.. mi instructor wants to start at 7:30 all next week, so I gotta figure something out. It's awesome.. I love flying.. he had me flying in circles today for half an hour.. we got ".6" hours of flight time today.. not all that long, but it's the best we can do with what we got.. Anyways, we are scheduled to go up Saturday for OVER AN HOUR!!! whee!!! *praying for good weather* I can't wait.. Anyways, well, I'm about to go, so, I'll talk to ya'll later!!

I got paid!!

Yup yup, I got paid today, and I get paid tomorrow!! Today was from Coast Guard from my January drill, and tomorrow is the college mother load!! :D
Anyways, today has been much better than yesterday, 1) I got plenty of sleep 2) I got to talk to Meg for a while on my lunch break, and 3) I got paid today 4)I got a Valentine's Day Card today! Better yet, it's made of chocolate!! Thank you, Babe! I like it, even if it is cracked 'cause the mailman left it in front of the door, in the dark, and I didn't see it, and I was walking backwards... sorry.
Anyways, I'm working late today, looks like I might have to be here an extra hour an' a half.. so far it's been 45 minutes.. yes, I am writing this from work. I'm waiting on 5 laptops to finish updates.
So anyways.. not much else.. that I can think of..

Hey ya'll, sorry that it's been soo long since I've posted, ya'll probably stopped checking my blog! Anyways, I've been busy lately, been outta town for a couple weeks, had to go to Anchorage and do my Coast Guard thing. And I actually got a new ID, finally has my correct rank! :D ya, I'm happy about that. And I also bought 'The Guardian' the coastie movie that just recently came out on DVD. I love that movie.. Anyways.. We had men's retreat last weekend while I was in Anchorage, Bro.Flora and Bro.Hart came up from the south to enjoy the fellowship in God's Great Land..
The Boyz all went snowboarding while we were there, had tons of fun, even though the snow wasn't all that great(was getting warm, no powder) but anyways, that's enough yammering from me, gotta save something for later.. :P

Another Week..

Well, Another week has passed, and it's been a solid -20 standing temp the whole week. I started working on my new job at the college on Wednesday, and so far that has been going great! It's gonna really be busy this next week, the last week before classes start again. Last Saturday was spent at the church re-insulating the church's water pipe. (it had frozen some time ago)
Anyways, all in all, it's been a good week, I haven't got to be able to put as much time into studying flying as I would like to, but that's alright, it's coming along. I guess that's it.. or at least all I can think of right now, so I guess I'll be going..

Well, not exactly, just nothing really exciting. Or nothing I can tell you about. :P I love the Christmas season, so much fun, love the music, the giving, everything.. "..it's the most wonderful time of the year!!!" ah yes..
Hmm.. in regards to me and my brothers mom just changed an old saying, "healthy, wealthy.. and whatever." lol. School got out yesterday so she's home now and gonna make us eat right. lol.
Yesterday night was childrens church night and we had a record breaking attendance!! two sets of twins, 4 and 5 years old, came and their older sisters.. and they all happen to be related to me! lol.
Also, our VLB Christmas Play was last sunday, and if anyone wants to see pictures of a monk, a giant, and an aussie shepherd, go to Zay's flickr site. lol.

Well, well, well... lots'a stuff been happening lately, and I finally got a chance to tell ya'll about it..
Well, first off, Sunday night I went to sleep as usual, put my pager in the charger by my bed as always and lay me down to rest. But, alas, perfect rest was not in store for me that night, for hardly was I asleep an hour when my pager started squaking an awful racket, an I awoke to the sound of fire tones blaring outta the little black speaker at just before midnight. So happens that somebodys steambath had caught a fire, and there weren't nothing to do but call out the firefighters. My mom was also awakened by the noise and happened to give me a ride to the station, saving me a good hard run in 10 degree weather. I jumped on Medic 4 to the fire, which happened to be right next to the church. As it turned out, since it wasn't a big fire, the four of us on Medic 4 and the three that were already there(2 on Engine 3, 1 POV) were all that were needed. All in all, it was a good refresher for me, I've been out of it all for a year now, and a little fire like that was just what I needed, although the wake up I got was NOT what I needed..
I was able to get back to sleep around 2:30, and the next morning my mom woke me up at 7:45 saying that the school had called and a preschool substitute had just cancelled and that they DESPERATELY needed someone to ride the short bus RIGHT NOW!... I'm so lucky... :P
So I ended up riding the short bus yesterday and today and helping teach at the preschool (finally, kids that are the same maturity level as me!!)

So ya, anyways.. besides that.. nothing much.. no news.. phooey.. and I'm gonna go watch Pirates of the Caribbean 2 in a few hours, it's finally out on DVD, yahoo!

Well, hey ya'll, thought I'd go ahead and post again.. finally got the finishing touches on the Suttons Blog.. um.. what else.. got a call from Chief Durden this morning, seems that the Sector Deputy (XO) likes the idea of a reservist(me) staying in Bethel, since they have no one out here permanately and have to send people over every couple months, but with me here, that's one less person that they have to send over. yippee. Anyways, it'll be convienient for all involved, and save us all money. :) Now I just need the college to talk to me...

Alrighty ya'll!! Here I am again! Yeehaa! just a quick little note here telling ya'll what's been going on here lately.. I don't have any real internet access, so I gotta take what I can get when I can... so anyways..
Alrighty, I got a new job, interview was last thursday, got the call telling me I was hired on friday, monday had to go fill out paperwork and take a drug test, tuesday had a physical, and then got a call today saying that I start tomorrow! So, this thursday morning will find me working for the NANA corporation as the Audio/ Video Technician for the BP office building!!! oh ya, uh huh, oh ya, that's right... lol. Anyways, my assembly plans are up in the air right now, the only thing I'm sure about is that I WILL BE THERE!!! Period. I may be eating bread and water while there, but I WILL BE THERE!! In other words, I'm broke, not sure when I'm going get my first paycheck, but.. I WILL BE THERE!! Anyways.. well, that's all I got time for, or I'll be late for church, but I'll talk to ya'll later, wish me luck, and I'll see you at the Assembly!

So I've been told that I need to post again...

Well lets see I'm working at McDonalds right now. It's ok though I don't like taking orders at all and they had me doing that the whole time last night. Oh I usually work mornings but last night I dropped Josh off at work and got half way home and he called me and said to come back. They only had 1 person there working other then Josh so I worked 6-11 and all of it I'll get overtime for.

Lets see what else oh me and two guys were going from a house to another place and the one guy had a bike and the other had rollerblades and I had nothing so I ended up running for 1 1/2 straight which is like 8 miles I'm really feeling that today

Good Morning Blogging World! Yup, It's me, I'm back, have been for a few days now, but just haven't gotten around to posting. Well I only got a few minutes to write this. I just got off watch and so I've got a little time before I got to go to remedial swim. So anyways, good news, KILO COMPANY EARNED OUR COLORS!!! Sunday afternoon we were presented our colors. Totally rocks. At this moment, KILO 173 is the only company in the regiment that has their colors. Supposedly, that means we're the best company here! If you want to see what our colors look like, look up Nautical flags and look for KILO, it will be yellow and blue. Rock on. Anyways, I'm running out of time. I'll talk to you later.

Hi everyone, Meg here. Once again, it's a letter from Micah. It's actually quite a bit longer this time, surprisingly. So.. here it is!

The time is actually passing rather quickly. A lot has happened in the last few days. On Sunday night, our Company, KILO, and our sister company, LIMA, started standing watches. We used to get 8 hours of straight sleep for teh first 2 weeks, but from the 3rd week on, we have to stand watch 6 days a week. The watches are an hour long, but we are woken up 1 hour before and have to be at the post a 1/2 hour before our watch. So we end up losing 2 hours of sleep.

Then, for those of us that failed the swin test, we are woken up at 0430 for remedial swim. So I have only been getting 4 1/2 hours of sleep. Needless to say, I'm tired. (Btw, swim started monday morning.) Anyways, enough of that except to say that there are a few good things about remedial swim:

ONE: I don't get woken up by bright lights and a CC yelling his head off.

TWO: I don't get the morning IT sessions, which is what happens if the company was all jacked up the night before and the CCs are in a bad mood.. which is more often than not.

THREE: I can send letters any day I want, while the rest of the company has to wait to send letters on Sunday. The mail drop box is behind the barracks, so on the way to swim at 0500, I run about 50 feet out of the way and drop the in. (Big no-no) Luckily, all the CCs are asleep at 0500, and the only other people up are the other recruits heading to swim, and they wouldn't bust me even if they did happen to see me. So yeah, waking up early for swim ain't all that bad.

Anyways, the present. I'm right now sitting on the hospital ward bed, in one of the hospital PJs and robe. First time I've ever had to stay overnight in a hospital. With me is Anthony Shettle, who is also from KILO, and Thomas, who is from INDIA company. He'll be leaving this place next Friday. He's done his 7 weeks and now he's getting out.. lucky dog!

Why am I here, being treated like a king, getting hours of sleep? Oh yeah, I jsut got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled. As did the other guys. Then I'll be on green belt for the next 2-3 days. No up-down-out-in, rowers, squats, or piece its!!! I'm so happy!

Right now, I'm writing because I won't have time after churhc. Divine hours are from 8:00-1300. Church is from 8:15-1000. I'll have about 2:30 hours after church. I tell you what, 2 1/2 hours goes by quick! Iron uniforms, polish our boondockers (boots), squad bag, maintenence, all that. Boom! Hours gone! LOL! Last week I ended up only having 5 minutes to write a letter home, which is why I'm writing to you now.. on this paper.. the ONLY paper I have in my Bible. LOL Anyways, Church is about to end, I'll try to write again after I get back to the squad bay.

Hi Everyone, Meg here. As promised, here is a letter from Micah:

Well, I got some time here, about an hour to write you and to home. Anyway, let I'll tell you a little about life here. We get up everday at 6:00, jump out of the rack, into our gofasters (running shoes) and get in line. We have less than 30 seconds to do that. Needless to say, we all sleep with socks on. We usually get 20 minutes to shower, shave, all that. There are 42 of us in KILO Company. Which includes 6 females. So, 36 guys in my squad bay. Many of us don't shower for days. Deodorant does wonders. LOL! Then we line up for chow. Anyways, after morning chow we usually have class.

I'll tell you right now, if I get reverted, it'll be for falling asleep in class. You're only allowed to fall asleep once, the 2nd time, and you go back a week in training. I fell asleep once, so I got a warning, and if I fall asleep again, I'll be graduating on the 10th instead of the 3rd. Hopefully that won't happen. Anyway. Afternoon chow is usually around 12:30. Today it is at 12:50. We live for chow and divine hours. Chow means 20 minutes that we can sit, eat good food, and not have the CC's breathing down our necks. And divine hours are 5 hours without the CC's. The CC's are our Company Commanders. We have 3 CC's: 2 guys and 1 girl. The woman is the LCC, the lead Company Commander. She is the boss.

Hi ya'll. Micah has arrived in Cape May by now. I said the last goodbye to him at 7:30 this morning before he got on the last connecting flight. :( Yeah. I cried. I hate goodbyes. But he is excited, like a kid on Christmas morning. But please remember to keep him in your prayers.. these first couple of days especially.

Gracie, ya, he'll have a lot of catching up to do when he gets back. Actually though, he'll only be back for about three weeks before he'll be going to A-School. (that's the name of the school, it's for extra training) He'll be there for.... 2 more months I believe. Then he'll FINALLY be settling down in Anchorage.

Jessa, actually, he has to be the one to iniate contact. So if ya'll did send him letters, he wouldn't be able to get them. But email me your adress and I'll send it to him in his next letter, that way he can write you.

Hi Ya'll! Micah called and I'm on the phone with him right now. He says hi! He is now offically a member of the US Coast Guard! *claps* Oh! On active duty (he points out)! He'll be flying out for good at 9:27 pm (Alaska Time). So as of 12:27 Tuesday Morning January 10, 2006 (my time) we will see the last of Micah...... at least for a while... ok, now he's informing me that he is in fact going to Chicago and Philadelphia and somewhere else.

Sorry Jenna, but he can't receive any packages or gifts or food of any kind.

Yup, I just pulled an all-Nighter.. It's 9:30am, and I'm just about to go home.. been working on some video projects.. for our Christmas program... which starts at 1:30.. anyways.. I'm gonna go home now.. maybe get a couple hours of sleep before I gotta wake up again.. and this doesn't beat my previous record of straight video editing hours... I think that was 18 hours.. maybe 16.. I'll have to check.. this was only about 12-14.. with a few hours break in there.. so ya.. anyways..
I'm leaving in 22 hours.. about.. me and Nate heading down to MT. yippee.. goodnight.. :P

Ah yes, you read right, I have fallen in love... someone that'll be with me on the well-worn trails, or when I feel I need to be original.. be with me through thick and thin.. will carry me on those cold days.. one who will be held by my side as I tread the days of winter... ah yes.. I love my snowboard... what?.. snowboards aren't someones?!?! They're someTHINGS!?!?! but.. but.. I'm gonna ask it.. oh wait.. it never answers me.. wha.. they can't talk?! They can't even hear!?!? Quick, call 911!! There aren't any ER snowboard doctors!? phooey.. my poor board.. oh well.. can I still kiss it??... :P Yeah, I got a new snowboard. Got it saturday. It's a Lamar Mission, 154cm. It's black and blue, and with my gray/blue/black bindings, it looks totally awesome! I'll be posting pictures tomorrow. :)
Alrighty, NEWS: The Boyz are going to Montana on the 19th!! (except Matt, he'll be going on the 28th) We'll be down there for over 2 weeks! Hey Pauly!! Are you gonna be able to get any time off from work around New Years? We'll be leaving on the 5th. Hope we'll get to spend a little time with ya. It'd be a bummer if I traveled all that way and don't even see ya, especially since I probably won't get to be at BTI..

ok.. today... cold..

Ya, it's been cold here... really cold, like, 40mph NNE wind, standing temp 5-10 F, windchill -20 F. br. cold. It was a blizzard last night, was snowing a little bit, and blowing a lot! lol.. woke up this morning to 1-2 foot drifts in all the wrong places.. like on the elementary school's boardwalks... ugh.. 9:00 found me halfway through a 2oft long drift about 2ft deep. I figured out that shoveling a a 3ft wide path through that would require me to move 120 cubic feet of snow, at about 1/2 cu.ft per shovelfull.. lifting at least 240 times. lol.. ya.. that was only one.. of 3.. lol.. it's a good workout if nothing else! lol. I'm crazy.. :P Anyways, now I"m sitting here getting fat, I've eaten a dozen Hershey's Hugs since I sat down to write this. :P lol. just ate another one.. lol. Well, I think that's about it..

to get that, use a podcast reader.. such as iTunes or FireAnt. If you don't have iTunes, you're a loser and you need to get it. Period. Sorry, but I gotta tell the truth. lol. In that case it might be better to use FireAnt. Over on my sidebar I have the 'Get FireAnt' link, so go ahead and click that, get it, install it, and then click on the green '+' and type in the feed url. Also with fireant, you can type in a blog address, and it will give you the feed for it(all blogs automatically have a feed) and you'll automatically get the blog updates, altough unless the blog is set up for podcasting, you'll still have to manually download the media. FireAnt tells you which blog has something new, so don't gotta go check it all the time. Have fun!

Yup Yup, Matt won his fight, and from what I hear from everyone that was there (half the fire department) the ref stopped the fight because the other guy was getting the bloody snot beat outta him.. literally. I feel sorry for the guy, I mean, I'm glad Matt won, but feel sorry that the other guy had to fight him.. anyways..

Alrighty.. Long time no post..

Alrighty.. where to start.. lots has happened since the last time I posted... Well anyways, everythings frozen here, it's been below freezing for over a week now, and monday it dropped to -11, with a -35 windchill!! Brrr.. it was cold. Yesterday it warmed up to about 0, and today is about +10.. not sure what the windchill is.. got a pretty good wind out there. Monday actually was a record setting low, Nov.7 has not been that cold since 1956 at -8 degrees. Did I hear someone say something about global warming?!? Hhmmm.. must be going crazy.. :P lol.
Oh Ya!! I got the Relient K Christmas CD today! It finally got hear! I love Christmas music.. lol.
Also, Matt has his first AFC fight today. Hopefully he'll win, and not get the snot beat outta him. Next time I post I'll tell ya'll how he did.
Ok, final news for now.. I've finally got confirmed ship dates!!! I'm leaving on Jan.2 for Boot Camp, Graduating beginning of March, then going to MST A School on March 20! About time!! lol... Alrighty, so, I'll see ya'll later,

Well, there goes my whole week... it's monday and I've been selected for jury duty.. I'll be going to the court from 11:30-4:30 every day now... great. Well, I guess it's a good thing I haven't left for the Coast Guard yet. All the IT schools are full for the next 6 months, so I won't be able to do that unless I want to wait for 6 months before I leave... no thanks. So instead I'm going to go in as a Marine Science Technician(MST), and I'll be leaving in a few weeks. whee.
Anyways, this past weekend has been pretty busy, it SNOWED Saturday!!! Whippee!! I love Snow!! In one afternoon it dumped 6 in. of snow!! In less than 4 hours!! wow.. We went out and made some snow men.. over 7 feet tall!! yeehaa! got some pretty good pictures of them, and I think Zay got a video clip. Another thing I like about the snow is.. I get money$$.. muhahaha.. ya, I shovel the snow off the boardwalks at the elementary school, get paid $13+ an hour.. which really ain't much for the amount of labor, but oh well, I'm desperate. I NEED $$$MONEY$$$ lol... oh well.. I'm outta time, I gotta get some sleep so I can stay awake tomorrow in court.... ugh.. Good Night Ya'll.. good night... good ni.... goo..... ZZZZZZ...zzzzzz

Wow, its been TWO WEEKS!!

Dude, I'm slacking.. like big time.. lol. What can I say, I've been busy.. I ain't sent an email to anyone since I've been home.. except the survey, but that don't hardly count. Anyways. Been really busy lately, been working on college classes, trying to get them all finished before I leave for boot camp. Also my bike got nabbed a couple days ago.. think somebody picked it out of the back of the truck, so ya, I'm on foot.. oh well. On the lighter side of things, I've got my picture in the newspaper!! For what?! Oh ya, the fire! had another fire that started friday night, we fought it from 9:30pm till after 4:00am! Didn't get home until after 6:30.. ugh. Glad I didn't have to work the next day.. but then I ended up going back to the scene that after noon for over 4 hours, because it kinda started up again. But then we had it torn down. That was pretty cool to watch.. got some video clips of it too. I'm gonna try to post those somewhere.. figure something out.. Anyways, ya, I've been busy. Oh Ya, I also got new Turnout Gear yesterday!! Finally got something other than old stuff.. and now I'm leaving town.. lol. I'll be back. I'll probably be posting some pictures pretty soon, but for now, I've run outta time, so I'll talk to ya'll later!

Yup, I took the ASVAB test today, aced it, and tomorrow I'm getting up a 5:00am, and going down to take the physical. Whee... Anyways, ya, looks like I'll be joining the Coast Guard Reserve. Other than that, not much has been going on lately. Been keeping busy, trying to finish up the last of college work before I ship out to boot camp. Anyways, I'm gonna try to get some rest.. Hey I'm finally back home. Been home for a couple days, and it's been great! Monday and tuesday I helped out with pump testing on Eng.2 and Eng.3. Well, here I am again... in the airport... waiting.. except this time, instead of on a payphone, I'm on my laptop, paying $7 for the wireless access.. whee.. and instead of cancelled, my flight is delayed by 2 hours... after I've been sitting here for 5 already... whee.. anyways.. ya.. I'm stuck at an airport again.. probably gonna miss the connecting flight which will continue to make me late... whee.. Alrighty, I'll talk to ya'll later,

Whee!! My last day of work was yesterday!! All in all it was a pretty good day, the beginning of it being the best. lol. :D We blew things up!! lol. The rocket science class tried to launch their rockets friday morning.. notice I said tried.. They all blew up!! LOL! something wasn't quite right with the fuel, and it burned too fast, creating too much pressure, thus blowing up! lol.. I got a lot of video of it, so next time ya'll see me, remind me to show it too ya!

What a day..

Well, this day started rather early, up at 4:00, fire tones ringing in my ear! I jumped on my bike and was at the station in less than 5 minutes, just as Medic 4 was driving off. Flip! First time I've missed it.. Oh well, Jody and Teresa came running in about a minute after me, and we took off in Jody's truck. We were at the fire at approx 4:15. Fire was pretty much out by 5:00, and at approx. 5:45, Matt and I were rolling back to the station in Engine 3. 5:50 we're back at the station, clean up finishes around 7:00, just in time for everyone to go to work. lol.. not me, I went to work at 11. lol.
We also played ultimate frisbee today... we were missing a few firefighters.. lol. It was still fun. It was my last chance to play before I leave on wednesday, so I put my all into playing it.. I don't think I've ever been so tired after a game! lol.
Well, right now I'm at the college.. it's a little after midnight, I've just finished work for the day, and thought I'd let ya'll know about the days events. I've got an awesome sound system up here.. lol.. we got 5 Macs up here in the multimedia lab, and each one have speakers that cost somewhere between $100-$200. well, I've attached a wireless transmitter to my laptop, and I've got two receivers here, both attached to 2 speaker systems!! I've got 8 speakers and 4 subs going at the same time!! A sound system that totals approx $600-700!! tomorrow's my last day of work, so I figured I'd have some fun. :D lol. well, It's late, time for me to go! Talk to ya'll later, yo!

Ok, I'm here at the college, waiting on the video to finish importing. Takes awhile, so I thought I'd say hi to everyone. In regards to the previous post, no Meg, you don't have to worry, at least not about the food.. now about the 4 girls that were up here in the room earlier.. for 2 hours.. lol. :P Oh, I'm tired!! lol. And I still got 4 days till my next day off... auughhhh!!! Ok, about the apples.. I brought 2 apples in my backpack for my lunch(I've been working through lunch) and I stuck them in a tortilla bag(just finished the tortillas day before) so then when I started to eat them they smelled like tortillas!! They were the weirdest apples I'd ever eaten! Anyways, when I ate them it was so weird and funny that I had to tell ya'll, plus I was waiting on the computer, so I had a few minutes. Anyways.. I'm going onto almost 9 hours of work today.. ugh.. oh well, it's been fun.. in half an hour, I'm going home.. probably gonna watch a movie.. other than that, my life not that exciting, just busy, lol. The 4th and 5th

Well, here I am again with my weekly report..lol, my goodness, how time flies.. anyways...
The 4th was great, I finally fulfilled a childhood dream- I rode in the 4th of july parade and tossed candy to the kids! I rode in Medic 4 with Matt, we were having the time of our lives! It was the first time either of us had been in the parade, and it was soo fun! :D
Yesterday wasn't too bad, spent most of the day here at the college, and then went to the station for the annual firefighter/emt shots. yikes. I hate needles. Luckily I was already good to go on most of the stuff, so I only had to get my blood drawn.. ugh. Did I mention that I hate needles? Anyways, it didn't go all that bad, and so far today has been uneventful.. good day. I was gonna work on the computers today and get them ready for the kids that are that are coming in today for the video camp that starts tomorrow. Which means that starting tomorrow I'm gonna be so busy for a week an'a half straight, that I'll be lucky if I get a chance to check the blogs, much less write.. ugh.. oh well, it'll be fun. I've actually been looking forward to these next 10 days for months. It's gonna be fun, teaching video editing. A week an'half of doing what I like best!! Just hope I won't have any stupid idiots in the class. The majority of the students are 16-17, with some 15, some 18, so actually, I'm really not any older than them. lol. That's kinda funny.. anyways, I gotta go, hopefully talk to ya'll soon, see ya!!

Whee.. fire.. finally..

Yup, finally another fire. 'bout time something exciting happened. Interesting thing about this fire is that it wasn't in Bethel, it was in Tuluksak, about a 18 minute plane ride from Bethel. So we took a plane to the fire- added bonus of fun. :D lol. Oh, hold on, another fire call just came in, just down the road from here... doesn't sound serious enough for me to go to the station, but I'm gonna go check it out, be back in a few minutes. OK, I'm back, it wasn't serious, just some kids. They were swimming in a lake, and got a little cold, so they decided to start a fire where they not supposed to.. so they got a visit from three cops and 7 firefighters, 3 in full turnouts, and 4 in regular clothes.. he he he.... lots of excitment today.. wow. lol.
So anyway, the fire this morning. Tuluksak called at 4am, asking for help, little after 5am we're rolling down the runway, 5:20 we land at Tuluksak. We saw the fire from the plane, and could tell that we were a little late to be much help. The people of Tuluksak had done a good job at containing the fire, and with only one pump feeding two 1 1/2 hoses (poor water pressure), a chainsaw and a bucket brigade, they had kept the new school, the trees, and the city fuel tanks from burning up. By the time we got there, the danger was over. I took some pictures just minutes after we got there, and you can see that it was basically over. But anyway, I got to have some fun, not everyday I get to ride an airplane to the fire. lol.

Here's one of the first pictures taken after getting there. The tin roofing really made it hard to get to all the little fires and put them out.

Home again..

Well, I've been home for awhile, this is just the first post since being home. I've been slacking, thursday night was the last time I posted.. that's been awhile. Well, I've been busy, too.. Since the last post I've test rode a Mini Cooper(Jag drove, I rode), got on the plane, mechanical problem with plane so got back off the plane. plane was then delayed three hours... Since I've been home I've played 'First to Fight' xbox game for hours, played paintball, got some bruises, played 'First to Fight' some more, slept in late.. worked out for the first time in 5 weeks (I'm feeling it today, lol), played 'Ghost Recon 2' with Bro.Johnny for 6 hours, slept in again.. played frisbee 'footbal', and just now got back from watching Matt play 'KillZone' for 4 hours. That's a pretty awesome game. Now it's almost 2am.. gonna sleep in again.. lol. OK, goodnight ya'll...

hey.. i'm tired... it's after midnight.. anyways..
I'm back in Alaska!!! It's been great, it's really has. I'm in Anchorage hanging out with Jag right now. Well, he's asleep right now. last night we spent the night at Michael's house and stayed up almost all night playing xbox. :) It was fun.. except that now.. I'm tired.. ok, that's it.. i'm goingto sleep.. goodnight..

Back Again...

Well, I'm back again! We just got back from NorthWest Region Camp. It was awesome. I haven't been to NW Camp since.. lemme see.. 2000? ya, it's bee awhile. All the little kids ain't so little anymore! lol. Met up with my old friend Keith again. Haven't seen him since last time. It's was great getting to talk to him again. Got in trouble again too, this time also got Paul pulled in to it. :D lol. The three of us turned into the "I`ll stay in my cabin" Brothers!! lol. We snuck out on the first night of camp!! and got caught... lol. Didn't help that Keith was wearing a white shirt, and pants that had bright yellow smiley faces all over them!! lol. Well, anyways, as a punishment for that, we had to say, "I'll stay in my cabin" before we could say anything to anybody!! lol. And then we had to write a song! lol. It was all great! Well, I gotta go for now, I'll talk to ya'll soon!

Alrighty, BTI is over, it was TOTALLY AWESOME! Ok so now, I'k at Meg's house with Jag. We're both here waiting for Mike's wedding. That'll be this Saturday. Then we're flying out the next day back to Alaska, Jag back to work, but I'll be flying down to Montana for camp, and then I'm going home. I'm only alf way through my vacation!!! :D

Well, just got a few minutes here. We're going to Nathan's piano recital in about 20 minutes. Exciting. lol.
Well, last friday, we were planning to go camping, but the weather had a different idea.. it rained.. and rained.. so.. we're planning on going out tomorrow. anyways.
The Graduation went great last friday. It was awesome. I'm FREE!!!!! lol. Also, Nate played "pomp and circumstance" as all the graduates walked in! dude..
